About Us

SelfCertificationForm.uk is an independent guide to self-certification for sickness absence in the UK, covering the SC2 form, the seven-day rule, and Statutory Sick Pay. We built it because the official guidance on GOV.UK is accurate but scattered, and most other guides we found online were either out of date or written for one audience only, usually just employees, rarely employers.

What we do

We explain self-certification form, for both employees who need to fill a form in and employers who need to know what they can and can’t ask for. We keep the site focused on one topic and try to go deep on it rather than covering everything loosely.

How we keep this accurate

Content on this site is checked against current GOV.UK and Acas guidance, and reviewed when the underlying rules change, most recently the Statutory Sick Pay changes that came into force on 6 April 2026. Where a page has been reviewed, the review date is shown near the bottom of that page.

We are not a law firm, an accountancy practice, or part of any government department. Nothing on this site is legal, tax, or HR advice for your specific situation. If you’re dealing with a dispute, a complex case, or anything with real money or legal risk attached, speak to Acas, a solicitor, or a qualified HR adviser.

How this site is funded

This site is supported by advertising. That doesn’t change what we write or how we rank information, editorial content and advertising are kept separate.
